Keeping Fit During the School Holidays

Posted on 18th July 2017

The six-week summer holidays are a long period of time where children have timeout from school, but it is vital to keep their minds and body’s active during their downtime.

For some children it is at school where they get their only exercise, so a long period of time without this can impact their life.

A long period of inactivity can result in loss of motivation, increase in laziness and a decrease of activeness and healthiness. With the increase of technology, children are more likely to be stuck inside looking at screens for hours on end rather than at the local park running around with friends. This is a reason for the increasing rate of obesity, and increasing rates of health problems such as diabetes and heart problems in later life.

Getting children moving can combat all of these issues, from just 30 minutes of active play a day.

Activities to Do

  • Visiting the local park
  • Encourage children to play sports such as football with their friends
  • Walk the dog
  • Go on a bike ride
  • Go to the swimming pool and le the children splash around and improve their swimming skills
  • Turn up the music and get the children dancing

You can see more ideas on activites to do this summer on our blog post here.

How we can help?

Active Superstars offer holiday activity courses during the school holidays to keep children active and gives them the opportunity to continue to learn throughout their time away from school. The courses involve fun activities that will get the children moving and gives them the opportunity to make new friends. The supervision is run by qualified staff who have plenty of experience and who are passionate about getting your children active every day whilst making it fun and enjoyable for all that take part.

What’s more, our holiday courses are great for parents who still have to go to work, and our early morning drop off and late pick up extras mean that you can be reassured that your children are in a safe, happy environment.
