Winter Activities

Posted on 13th December 2017

The winter season means that weather outside can be miserable to say the least. This means that it isn’t always easy to get outside and get active. But fear not! We have come up with some activities that you can do in the comfort of your own home, even if there isn’t much space.

Build a Fit Fort

Using furniture, cushions and blankets, make a fort in your living room. Encourage children to climb through or have a secret code to get in which consists of 10 jumping jacks. Parents can get involved too!

Dancing in the dark

Turn the lights out and have a ‘midnight’ dance off! Hold torches and glow sticks and dance away to your hearts content!

Book Worm Workout

Pick a book that has words repeated, such a cat in the hat. Every time a certain word is mentioned (e.g. hat) children have to do a jumping jack. Alternatively, read your favourite book out loud and get children to act it out as you go.

Themed Freeze!

Everybody has heard of musical statues, but mix it up by having themes! When the music stops, children must freeze in specific poses such as animals or letters!

Hide and Seek Twist

Hide and Seek with a twist – hide an object instead of yourself! Pick an object and hide it out of sight. Children then have to search round the house to find it! If there are multiple players, have them walk around with hands behind their backs. When they find the object they must say ‘I’ve found the magic beans‘ and then sit down. Wait until all children have found the object and then hide another!
