Health and Safety Risk Assessment

 We have carried out a COVID-19 Risk Assessment for our Breakfast and Afterschool Club based on the Government’s guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19.

 

 Lack of social distancing at Breakfast and Afterschool Club
  1.  Remove excess furniture to increase space
  2. Ensure good ventilation (windows and doors open)
  3. Seating plan in year group (bubbles) including instructions on how to line up (1 meter away), use of toilets, and moving around.
  4. Staff to keep a safe distance when assisting children and conversations from adult level 
  5. Children will sit, play and interact in year group bubbles
  6. Staggered outdoor play and allocated play area
  7. Play games which encourage social distancing and staff supervision throughout.
  8. Parents to drop off and collect children outside the designated entrance and ensure 1-metre social distancing at all times
 Risk of Spreading the virus due to poor hygiene
  1.  All surfaces, handles, toilets will be cleaned each day using anti-bac sanitiser spray
  2. Children encouraged to wash hands and use hand sanitiser before entering Breakfast and Afterschool Club
  3. Agree instructions with children concerning going and returning to toilet
  4. One boy and one girl going to the toilet at one time
  5. All children supervised and accompanied to outside the toilets
  6. Hand Sanitiser used after toilet as well as washing hands
  7. Allocated toilets cleaned during the day
Risk of spreading the virus during active play activities 
  1.  Surfaces, resources/equipment after use 
  2. Play games which encourage social distancing and staff supervision throughout.
  3. Children will sit, play and interact in year group bubbles
  4. Areas of the playground to be allocated to specific bubble groups
  5. Smaller staff to children ratios
Risk of spreading virus due to close contact with children 1:1 
  1.  First aid to be carried out with PPE (mask, face shield, gloves and apron)
  2. If a child has a temperature or a new continuous cough - the child will be taken to an isolation area until parents arrive. (supervising staff to keep a one-meter distance with PPE and dispose safely outside bin. Parents will be advised to get a test and children away from Club until test has been returned. 
  3. None-contact thermometers purchased
